If we want to live in a peaceful and prosperous society, we need to teach our children “Search and Rescue” games... exciting games of creation, adventure, and discovery, instead of teaching kids that it's important to beat other people.
“Search and Rescue” is a state of mind, and is based on caring also for the welfare of others, and on a desire to make a better world.
“Competition” is a state of mind based on a desire to beat (or a fear of losing to) other people, and is based on, “Be Fast, Be First, and Be the Winner!”
Arrogant people had judged a woman for committing adultery, and wanted to stone her to death. Jesus did not condemn her, but told her to go and sin no more. His mission was not to condemn people for their mistakes, but to find and rescue people who need help. Jesus' mission was search and rescue with an attitude of “respect and compassion” (love) for those in need. He did not condemn sinners, but rather, encouraged them to heal themselves (repent). That's how “Jesus Saves”. Just like when search and rescue teams find someone who is lost or injured; they save that person. They don't scold them and leave them to die.
Today, many politicians, reporters..., even crazy individuals arrogantly condemn and try to destroy people who have other opinions, instead of respecting and working with them to improve the situation.
Our future will be fantastic if we make it that way. For example, if we were to use our amazing military forces to search for and rescue people who live in poverty, maybe even to protect them from ruthless dictators (selfish top-dogs), and for helping poor countries south of us instead of fighting no-win conflicts in the Middle-East. Then there would be no need to protect ourselves from hungry illegal aliens at our southern border.
We would all be better-off if some of our political leaders' mindsets were focused more on search and rescue (based on respect and compassion) instead of spoiled-brat, fault-finding (based on their arrogant competitive fear of losing and wanting to be fast, be first, and be the winner). Even corporations can still make a profit when they care about their employees and customers as well as their shareholders.
Search and Rescue is #1, powerfully coupled with respect and compassion. Only that will create and maintain a peaceful and prosperous future.
